Vacation Guest Post: How to make an Edible Arrangement!

Hi friends! I’m probably somewhere up in the skies right now or picking sand out of my buttcrack on the beach!  Hope you all are heaving a beautiful week so far – wish you were here ;)

Today’s guest post comes from a beautiful woman that I’ve featured on my blog before - Kat! I’m super thankful that she was willing to do a guest post, cause I just love her and her blog. Enjoy:

Hey guys!!  This is Kat from Keep’n The Faith. I am beyond ecstatic to be guest posting for Meg today. I love that girl so much, and it is truly an honor to be posting on her blog!
This summer my sister in law turned 16 years old, and all she really wanted at her party was a huge Edible Arrangement.  Those pieces can get pretty pricey though, so my in laws asked me to help them out. I decided to make a homemade edilble arrangement instead!
How to make your own edible arrangement:
Supplies Needed:
watermelon-desired size
knifes/carving tools
large bowl
melon baller/ice cream scoop/spoon
erasable marker
fruit for basket
Step 1: Measure and mark your watermelon
I used a highlighter and after measuring the melon and finding the center, I drew the mid line. Then, I measured to find the handle. Make the handle whatever size you want, or you can choose to omit it all together!
Step 2: Cut off the sides
Watermelons are VERY easy to slice, so be careful!
Make sure to be gentle when cutting the handle as well, you don’t want to slice it off
Step 3: Scoop out the insides
Use a melon baller, ice cream scoop, or spoon to dig out all the flesh.  Make sure to save it all for the inside of the basket, or future munching!
Step 4: Cut your edge design
You can always choose to leave it straight, but I wanted to add a bit more flair
Step 5: Add your fruit!
Not only did my sister in law love my edible arrangement, but it was also MUCH cheaper than purshasing one already made.  I guarantee you will be the most popular person at the party if you walk in with one of these!  Even my husband requested me to make one for his birthday party, and let me tell you, if my husband requests it, it MUST be pretty cool ;)
Thanks Meg for letting me take over your blog for the day! Hope your having a wonderful vacation :)
Keep the faith,

  1. This is so cool, Kat! Now I can make some at home and won’t have to spend a lot of money to have it made :) Thanks for sharing with us!! :)

  2. That is so freakin’ cute! I am going to make that for the next family party!

  3. I can’t believe how expensive Edible Arrangements are. I nearly peed myself when my mom told me the one she once got me was $80! Yours looks a lot better than the EA ones anyways. I love the watermelon basket – so cute! :)

  4. Yum, that’s beautiful!

  5. OK that’s way too impressive. You need to stop showing off now. ;) (JK, of course!)

  6. OMG that’s amazing!!
I wish someone would make me one of them! Guess I’ll just have to make it for myself…! :D

  7. This is SUCH a cute idea!!!! I have to try it out. :)

  8. Wow, that is gorgeous!! Much cheaper, too :D

  9. this is GENIUS !! I love those things, but would love to make my own even more!

  10. Cute way to eat fruit!
